Bhanupriya is a former Indian Actress of Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada film indusrtries; she has also acted in few Hindi films. She pursued a career merely for 10 years - from 1983 to 1993. Born in a Telugu family, she began her career at the age of 19, her first film being Mella Pesungal (1983) in Tamil and Sitara (1983) in Telugu. She has over 110 films in 5 different languages to her credit, over 55 of which are Telugu, more than 40 are Tamil, 14 Hindi films and a couple of Malayalam and Kannada films.

She's a trained classical dancer - all her critically acclaimed movies were based on classical dance. She was also a part of Mani Ratnam's stage show Netru, Indru, Naalai. She has also worked in a television serial Shakthi, aired on Sun Network channels.

Bhanupriya is married to Adarsh Kaushal, an award-winning photographer, based in the US and has a daughter. The family is now settled in Chennai. She is now planning to direct a film based on classical dance.

She has bagged a Nandi Award for Best Actress in 1988 for her performance in Swarna Kamalam. She also won the Filmfare Best Actress Award (Telugu) for the same film that year. She has two Nandi Awards for Best Supporting Actress to her credit, one for the film Lahiri Lahiri Lahirilo in 2002 and the other for Chatrapati in 2005.
