David Dhawan is an Indian film director. Having started off as an Editor, Dhawan plunged into directing, specializing in the comedy genre, most of which feature either Govinda, Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor or Sanjay Dutt in lead roles, along with Raveena Tandon, Karisma Kapoor and Juhi Chawla playing the leading actresses. Kader Khan, Shakti Kapoor, Johnny Lever and Paresh Rawal appear in his films playing supporting roles. His biggest success to date is the 1993 film `Aankhen`, starring Govinda and Chunkey Pandey. His film, `Partner` (2007) also proved to be a success at the box office. David Dhawan is considered one of the most successful directors in Bollywood, though he has been accused of stealing from Hollywood and South Indian films. He has been a judge on the Star Plus show `Nach Baliye 3` in 2008 and on the show `Hans Baliye`.


David Dhawan is married to Karuna Dhawan and has two children, Rohit and Varun. Rohit plans to become a director, while Varun will be launched as an actor in Karan Johar's film, `Student Of The Year`. Dhawan's brother is actor Anil Dhawan. David studied at the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune.
