Jaya Prada is an Indian film actress and politician. She debuted with director K. Balachander's 1976 Tamil film `Manmadha Leelai` alongside Kamal Haasan, following which she received numerous offers and became a star in 1976 with a trio of the hits - `Anthuleni Katha`, `Siri Siri Muvva` and `Seetha Kalyanam`, which confirmed her versatility. In 1977, she starred in `Adavi Ramudu`, which broke box office records and permanently cemented her star status. K. Viswanath remade `Siri Siri Muvva` (1976) in Hindi as `Sargam`, introducing Jaya Prada to Bollywood in 1979. The film became a huge hit, earning her the first Filmfare nomination. Three years later, she was cast again in the hit, `Kaamchor` (1982). She earned two more Filmfare nominations as Best Actress for Prakash Mehra's `Sharaabi` (1984) and K. Vishwanath's `Sanjog`. She has starred in many hit films including `Tohfaa`, `Devata` and `Devadoothan` . She has thus far acted in seven languages and has completed 300 films over a 30-year film career. Jayaprada's classic features, a flawless peach complexion and incredible nose coupled with a quiet aristocratic demeanor made her a favorite star of 1980s Indian Popular Cinema.
