Meenakshi Seshadri is an Indian film actress. She won the Miss India contest in 1981 at age 17. She is the youngest woman to be crowned Miss India.
She made her debut in Painter Babu (1982) opposite Rajiv Goswami, the younger brother of Manoj Kumar. She shot to fame with the mega hit film Hero (1983) directed by Subhash Ghai. Meenakshi gave a stunning performance in Damini and was nominated for a National Award for the movie. She acted in her last film Ghatak in 1997.
Meenakshi was born in a Tamil Iyer Brahmin family at Sindri, Jharkhand, where her father worked as a senior executive at Fertilizer Corporation of India's then largest urea plant. She is the youngest in a family of three children. Her elder sister, the oldest in the family, has lived in Mumbai and Pune for several years, since her marriage to a senior corporate executive. Her elder brother, a distinguished psychiatrist at NIMHANS, Bangalore, is a widely respected advocate for the rights of children. She relocated to the US after her marriage to Harish Mysore, an investment banker, in 1996. The couple have settled in Texas, with a daughter called Kendra and son, Sanjosh.
