While growing up in Melbourne, Australia, the Indian community knew Pallavi Sharda as the little dancer. Whenever asked as a child what she wanted to be when she grew up, the answer was always clear: a Hindi film actress and dancer!
Pallavi started training in Bharatha Natyam aged 3 and went on to perform on Melbourne's stage in numerous theatre productions and as a solo dancer for many years. A self-confessed nerd, Pallavi completed degrees in Law, Media & Communications and French while teaching courses in Indian dance at Melbourne University.
While jobs in law and journalism started to stream her way, her childhood dream still tugged at her and she knew she had to make the transition from Australia to Mumbai to realise it.
Born to professor parents, Pallavi knew the challenge of making it to Bombay from Melbourne would be tough, so after convincing them she was going to Delhi to study international law at JNU, Pallavi packed her bags and headed for Mumbai!
In 2010 Pallavi was crowned Miss India Australia and commenced her Bollywood film career opposite Manoj Bajpai in Dus Tola in which she played Geeta, the dance teacher. With her carefree and light-hearted Aussie spirit, Pallavi's friends know her as the joker, always poking fun at people and imitating accents.
It is therefore a huge acting challenge for Pallavi to play the straightlaced, bound-by-plans girl in her second film Love, Breakups, Zindagi but she is confident that she will be fully up to it!
