Satish Kaushik is an Indian film director and actor in Hindi films and theatre. As a film actor, his most remembered role is 'Calendar' in the hit film, 'Mr. India', and as 'Ahmed' in Sarah Gavron's English film 'Brick Lane'. He also won the Filmfare Best Comedian Award twice in 1990 for the film 'Ram Lakhan' and 'Saajan Chale Sasural'.
He was born in a village Dhanounda in Haryana. He grew up in Delhi. Satish graduated from Kirori Mal College, New Delhi. He also graduated from National College of Drama (N.S.D.) and later studied at the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune.
As a dialogue writer he has written dialogues for Kundan Shah's comedy classic 'Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron'. As a theatre actor, his most known role is that of Willy Loman in the Hindi play 'Salesman Ramlal', an adaptation of Arthur Miller's 'Death of a Salesman'. His film 'Teree Sang' starring Ruslaan Mumtaz and Sheena Shahabadi is based on teen pregnancy.
The Bollywood actor-director Satish Kaushik, is a partner in the Chandigarh Film City project.
