Shekhar Ravjiani is the one amongst the music director duo Vishal Shekhar. Along with music composing he sings for some of his films as well. Their music is thus a combination of Indian classical with western rock influence brought by Vishal.
The duo rose to prominence when they composed the score for the film Jhankaar Beats, which included the hit song Tu Aashiqui Hai. Their efforts paid off when they won the Filmfare RD Burman Award for New Music Talent for Jhankaar Beats. The music for the film Musafir became very popular with youths. They combined techno music with Indian sounds. The score of the film included the music hits Saaki and Door Se Paas.
2005 was a good year for the duo as they composed the scores for three hit films: Salaam Namaste, Dus and Bluffmaster. Shekhar Ravjiani is a trained classical singer and has a sound base of Indian music. He was a participant of Zee TV's singing contest Sa Re Ga Ma Pa 1997. Shekhar is married and has a daughter named Bipasha.
Vishal and Shekhar have been judges on the popular star hunt show, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2007 and the musical talent show Jo Jeeta Wohi Super Star along with renowned director and choreographer Farah Khan. They are also the judges on Amul Star Voice of India Mummy Ki Superstars. Currently they are judging Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Singing Superstars, along with Sajid-Wajid and Daler Mehndi. Vishal-Shekhar's have also composed music for films like 'Break Ke Baad' and 'Tees Maar Khan'. Tees Maar Khan also had Shekhar Ravjiani singing a track.
