Subhash Ghai was born in a Punjabi family and was bought up in Haryana. He later moved to Pune to join the Film and Television Institute of India.
The filmmaker started working in Indian films in 1970. Subhash made his debut as an actor with small roles in films like 'Taqdeer', 'Aradhana' and many others.
His directorial venture was 'Kalicharan'. This film was the biggest hits of all time. After that he made hit films like 'Karz', 'Hero', 'Meri Jung', 'Karma', 'Ram Lakhan' and many more.
He worked with stars like Dilip Kumar, Jackie Shroff, Anil Kapoor, Mahima Chaudhary. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and many more.
The filmmaker has started his own film institute Whistling Woods International that trains students in filmmaking, production, direction, choreography and more.
Ghai is married to Rehana Farooqui after whom he named his company Mukta Arts.
Subhash's last venture was 'Yuvvraaj' with Salman Khan and now he is busy working on his next project 'Kaanchi'.
