UTV Motion Pictures is a wholly owned subsidiary of UTV Software Communications Ltd. (UTV), based in London media and entertainment production company. It was started in 1996, and handles the motion picture production and distribution of UTV

UTV Motion Pictures produces films both in Bollywood as well as in Hollywood, where it partners with other leading film studios like 20th Century Fox, The Walt Disney Company and Sony Pictures.

UTV Motion Pictures is listed on the London Stock Exchange's Alternative Investment Market since 2007, where it was valued at $321m at the start of trading, in the same year, it launched its second motion picture brand 'Spotboy'.

In 2008, it made to US top 20 distributors, when its releases grossed $5.48 million in the first 28 weeks of the year, making it the leading Indian motion picture distributor in the US, it was also one of the youngest Indian film distributors in North America, as it established operations in the US only four years ago.

UTV Motion Pictures and IBC Motion Pictures have tied up for producing films together since 2010. IBC have co-produced films with UTV such as; Raajneeti, I Hate Luv Storys, Peepli Live, We Are Family, Guzaarish, Tees Maar Khan, Saat Khoon Maaf, Thank You, Delhi Belly, Chillar Party, My Friend Pinto and other upcoming films.

IBC Motion Pictures, earlier known as Thompson Works Pictures have produced the following movies with UTV in 2009, which include films such as; Delhi 6 and What's Your Raashee? 

UTV Motion Pictures as a dominant player in the Indian film industry has been in the forefront of bringing Indian films to a global audience and the last decade in Indian cinema has seen UTV Motion Pictures delivering some of the most iconic films. UTV Motion Pictures films have also been selected to represent India at the Academy awards; films were Rang De Basanti (2006), Harishchandrachi Factory (2009) Peepli Live (2010) and Barfi! (2012).

In 2011, UTV Motion Pictures also became one of the few studios to successfully venture into South Indian cinema. UTV Motion Pictures has a library of over 70 films including Hindi, Regional, Animation and International Productions, which have been showcased in over 50 festivals across 28 countries, receiving almost 250 awards in the last 7 years.
