Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravijiani are the two names in the Bollywood's music scenario who have given superb music through the films like- Jhankaar Beats,Om Shanti Om, Salaam Namaste, Bluffmaster, Anjaana Anjaani, Ra.One and many more. But people hardly know them by their original, full names. This duo is famously known as Vishal-Shekhar.
Individually, Vishal Dadlani is a vocalist of the Mumbai-based electronic band Pentagram. On the other hand, Shekhar Ravijani is trained in classical music and in 1997, he was a participant of Zee TV's Sa Re Ga Ma Pa.
Vishal-Shekhar have been active in the industry since 1999. The duo rose to prominence when they composed the score for the film "Jhankaar Beats". The year 2005 kept them very busy with Salaam Namaste, Dus and Bluffmaster in their kitty.
They have directed music together, for as many as 48 movies. They have also composed the IPL season 3 theme song and the Anthem for Kolkata Knight Riders.
Vishal-Shekhar have been judges on the popular star hunt show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2007 and the musical talent show Jo Jeeta Wohi Super Star. They are the judges on Amul Star Voice Of India Mummy Ki Superstars. They were also the mentors and judges in the Zee TV reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Singing Superstar.
Apart from being the youth icons, Vishal-Shekhar are also active in the social causes. Following the terror attacks on Mumbai on 26 November 2008, Vishal Dadlani launched a petition to ban live media coverage during the rescue operations.
They have won a lot of hearts through their music and are also the recipients of the Filmfare RD Burman Award for New Music Talent for Jhankaar Beats.
They have achieved tremendous popularity by combining traditional Bollywood music and techno sounds, like in the case of the internationally popular, "Chammak Challo".
Vishal-Shekhar are the pioneers of live audio show, which was accessed on the Internet and mobile phones. This has earned them a place in the Guinness Book of World Records.
