A light hearted entertainer!

In a candid moment, Manu's father tells Pappi that he'll be happy if his son gets married and settles down but even if he chooses not to, 'Main apne ghar mein khushi se baitha hoon.' That's Tanu Weds Manu for you. It doesn't take offense at anything but will charm you anyway.

Marriages are made in heaven! Though the road to heaven might be a little "tedha", true but in this case the road is not just tedha but very very tedha!!! Kangana (Tanu) woos the audience as the bold, extrovert small town girl who wants to live life on her own terms. Madhavan (Manu) shines as the sacrificing lover who is just the opposite of what Tanu is. Tanu Weds Manu is not the regular guy meets girl story. Here the guy Manu (R Madhavan) meets the girl Tanu (Kangana Ranaut) for marriage by family pressure and in spite of seeing her stoned, falls in love with her. Tanu is strictly against arranged marriages and loves another guy Raja (Jimmy Shergill) and wants to run away with him. Tanu forces Manu to reject her and that is what happens. But destiny has different plans for the two them.  The love triangle in Tanu Weds Manu is as archaic as SRK's Pardes, Dil To Pagal Hai or Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Madhavan's self-sacrificing character is evidently modeled on the lines of Shah Rukh Khan from these films. Also the second half has a strong Jab We Met hangover. Add to that Kangana Ranaut's rebellious and outgoing character is evocative of Kareena Kapoor's Geet from the film.

Tanu weds Manu is a light hearted films with Kangana stealing the entire show. Madhavan fits the character well but needs to do something with his looks. But if you are a Kangana fan you cannot afford to miss this one as the lady is at her best. Her dialogues, expressions and charisma rules the entire film. Jimmy Shergill in his small part has done a good job. The best part about the film is the Kanpur accent used by the characters which is just marvellous. Eijas Khan as Manu's friend is enchanting just like Tanu's best friend Swara Bhaskar. The film can boast of melodious tracks, good dialogues and ofcourse good direction. On the downside, the cliched and predictable end could have been made better. The scene when Tanu realizes that she has fallen for Manu could not create an impact.

A light hearted entertainer, Tanu Weds Manu is just once watch.
