• Case filed against Shahid Kapoor starrer 'BGMC'

    21st May 2018

Shree Narayan Singh directed 'Batti Gul Meter Chalu' featuring Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead role has replaced Prernaa Arora's KriArj Entertainment as Bhushan Kumar took over the films rights. Now, they face yet another legal battle as Vipul Rawal, the writer of the movie has filed a complaint against the makers to Film Writers Association (FWA) against director Shree Narayan Singh and writers Siddharth and Garima Rawal (the team behind BGMC).

He has charged them with copyright infringement and unethical behaviour. He made an agreement with KriArj Entertainment, after which the story was narrated to various actors. Eventually, Shahid and Shraddha were signed for the film. He further states, "The director wanted certain changes in the screenplay and for that, he decided to employ writers of his choice to make the modifications in my screenplay. The pre-production started and the dates for shooting were locked."

Furthermore, Vipul said,"However, when the first teaser came out, my name wasn't mentioned anywhere. Instead, it boldly proclaimed, 'From the writer and director of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha'. Immediately, I sent multiple mails to the producers, who assured me that the issue will be rectified at the earliest."

As of now, the things are sorted and Vipul's name displays on the writing credentials of the film's official IMDB and Wikipedia pages. Although bad news for Prernaa Arora of KriArj Entertainment as she already lost out a legal battle against John Abraham over Parmanu, the producer missed out on three other meaty projects - 'Batti Gul Meter Chalu', 'Fanne Khan' and 'Kedarnath'.
