'Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety' that was earlier set to hit theatres on February 9 will now officially release on February 23. The reason is Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte starrer 'Padman' postponing their release date to February 9 because of box-clash with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's period drama 'Padmaavat' that opted January 25 as their new release date.
The makers are wise and didn't take any chance to compete with this Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh starrer magnus opus. Makers choose the safest option to push their film a bit further instead of clashing with Neeraj Pandey's Aiyaary and R. Balki's Padman.
The makers did not find these three films apt to release on the same date. So, they decided to postpone it. "We are all aware of the recent developments with regards to release dates. It didn’t seem logical to stick to a Friday so crowded," Luv Ranjan, writer and director of Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, told IANS.
When Padmaavat was announced to have a clash with Padman, the makers of Aiyaary had altered its release date from January 25 to February 9.
