It is Zoya Akhtar directorial 'Gully Boy' starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the lead, is all set to premiere in the 69th edition of the Berlin International Film Festival. The film is inspired by the real life of Indian rapper Divine, has been selected as part of the Berlinale Special programme.
An elated Ranveer shared the news with his fans via a tweet, "Delighted!!! 'Gully Boy' has been selected by the Berlin International Film Festival for a special gala screening!!! Ow Oww."
The film explores the life of street rappers from Mumbai; is so far among three productions to have been invited to participate in the Berlinale Special. This is the only Indian film which is officially selected to premiere in Berlin.
Alongside the previously announced opening film, "The Kindness of Strangers" by Lone Scherfig, six productions and co-productions from Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Greece, the Netherlands, Serbia, and Turkey have been invited to take part in the competition.
An elated Farhan Akhtar also tweeted "Happy to share that #GullyBoy has been selected by the Berlin International Film Festival for a special gala screening. #ZoyaAkhtar @ritesh_sid @RanveerOfficial @aliaa08."
Also starring Kalki Koechlin in a major role, 'Gully Boy' is slated to release on February 14, 2019
