    28th December 2018

The much-awaited trailer of 'Thackeray' featuring Nawazuddin Siddiqui was finally out and it has been admired by many movie buffs. It is based on the real life of Balasaheb Thackeray, the founder of Shivsena who was always firm with his stand and opinions.

Now, the 'Rang De Basanti' fame actor Siddharth slammed the film in his tweet claiming that it spreads hate speech. A not so happy Siddharth tweeted, "Nawazuddin has repeated 'Uthao lungi bajao pungi' (lift the lungi and *'#$ him) in the film #Thackeray. Clearly hate speech against South Indians... In a film glorifying the person who said it! Are you planning to make money out of this propaganda? Stop selling hate! Scary stuff!" A controversial dialogue that did appear on the trailer.

A scene from the film where a young Bal Thackeray is expressing his views indirectly opposing South Indians promoting the view that every Marathi individual must get employed. The CBFC, too, hours before the launch of the trailer had suggested a few cuts one of them being a reference to the South Indian community. The use of the word 'Andu Gundu' was looked down upon by the CBFC.

Shiv Sena leader and MP Sanjay Raut who is the writer and producer of Thackeray said, "No one has ever dared to stop a Thackeray. And no one can stop him in the future. The film will be exactly like how Balasaheb was"
